Tom Cruise is to appear in a new version of classic Western movie The Magnificent Seven, according to a report. The Top Gun actor has signed up to appear as one of the gang of gunslingers in MGM’s remake of John Sturges’ 1960 film, reports Variety. The original movie centres around seven renegades who are recruited to protect a Mexican village from an invasion of bandits. The Magnificent Seven was itself a remake of Akira Kurosawa film Seven Samurai and was followed by three sequels - Return of the Magnificent Seven, Guns of the Magnificent Seven and The Magnificent Seven Ride Again.
